I have never heard of Sammy Rhodes before reading this book so I had no preconceived notions or expectations. I was pleasantly surprised that I connected with this author through his writings. I also realize that I, myself, am awkward.
According to the author, awkwardness is the gap between what we should be and what we actually are. This means we are all awkward. But instead of shaming ourselves for not measuring up and blaming ourselves for our failures, we can turn our awkwardness toward God. It is in that gap that God gives us grace. This really is a freeing concept.
Even the word "awkward" is awkward.
Thomas Nelson provided me a free copy of this book in exchange for this review which I freely give.
