Ronald Kessler describes a culture of mistakes and overstight. While I agree that the Secret Service is asked to do more with less, I don't understand why no one wants to fix it. It seems the higher ups are just climbing the career ladder while the footsoldiers are carrying the burden of protecting the president. Without good leadership, the climate fails, and that seems to be what is happening in D.C.
If you want to believe everything you read, don't read this book. I am sure the author did much research; however, there were a few details that I question. Even so, if only half of this is true, the Secret Service is struggling to do its job with integrity and strength.
